The Pink Smoothie We Can’t Stop Making (For Babies, Toddlers & You!)
5 Easy Smoothies Packed with Nutrients for Little Mouths (and Grown-Ups Who Steal Sips)
This week, we’re blending (and we’re on spring break)! Smoothies are one of my favorite ways to get in all those fruits, veggies, healthy fats, and proteins. Whether you’re still in puree mode or your toddler’s grabbing snacks between park runs, these 5 smoothies are simple, nutrient-dense, and totally family-friendly. Poppy likes hers with a glass straw. Finn? Straight from the spoon.
While we are not anywhere quite close to Finn using a straw - it’s something that I’m forever trying to introduce because of what pediatricians have told me in the past.
Introducing babies to a straw isn’t just cute—it’s a major win for their oral and motor development. Learning to drink from a straw helps strengthen the muscles in their lips, cheeks, and tongue, which are essential for speech development and safe swallowing. It also supports hand-eye coordination as they bring the cup to their mouth and encourages independent drinking skills. Straw drinking promotes a more mature sucking pattern—laying the groundwork for chewing, talking, and eventually drinking from an open cup like a pro.
Ok let’s get into the smoothies. Each one is naturally sweetened with fruit, customizable based on what’s in your fridge or freezer, and can be bulk-prepped into popsicles or smoothie pouches. And we are about to deep dive into mix-ins!
